How many sexual partners is "normal"?

The median American adult has had 4–6 lifetime sexual partners. Men self-report a higher median (6.1) than women (4.2), though researchers believe social desirability bias inflates male counts and deflates female counts.

• Gen Z is having fewer partners than Millennials did at the same age
• 28% of Gen Z men 18-24 report zero sexual partners (up from 18% in 2008)
• The global median across 59 countries is ~7 for men and ~4 for women
